Turn the engine
off,
place
the motorcycle
on its
center stand
and shift the
transmission
into neutral.
Check slack
in the
drive chain lower
run midwav
be-
tween
the sprockets.
SLACK:
15-25
mm
(5/8-1
in)
CAUTION
Excessive
chain slack,
50 mm
(2
in)
or more,
may damage the
frame.
Adjust as follows:
Loosen the axle nut-
Loosen the adjusting bolt lock
nuts.
Turn both adjusting
bolts an equal number
of turns
until
the
correct
drive
chain
slack is
obtained.
CAUTION
Make
sure that the same
alignment marks
on
both
adiusting
plates
align with the
ends
of
the swingarm.
Tighten
the adjusting bolt
lock nuts.
Tighten the rear
axle nut.
TOROUE: 85-105
N.m
(8.5-10.5
kg-m,
61-76
ft-tb)
Recheck
chain
slack and
free
wheel
rotation.
Lubricate
the drive
chain with
SAE 80 or
90
gear
oil.
Check
the
chain wear label.

the
red
zone
on the
label
align,
or
is
beyond,
the
rear
end of the
swing-
arm
after
the chain
has
been adjusted,
the
chain
must
be
replaced.
