INSPECTION
Inspect
thermostat
visually
for damage.
Suspend
the thermostat
in
heated
water to check
its
operati on.
NOTE
lf
the thermostat
or thermometer
touches
the
pan, you'll
get
a
false reading.
Replace
thermostat
if
valve stays
open
at
room
temperature,
or
if it
responds at
temperatures
other
than those
specified.

INSTALLATION
Install
the thermostat
into the
housing.
Install
the thermostat
housing cover with a new
O-ring.
Connect
the temperature sensor
wire connector.
Install the
fuel tank,
frame
side
covers and seat.

the cooling system

6-3).

REMOVAL
Remove the
lower radiator cowl and
radiator drain
plug
and drain the coolant.

Loosen
the upper hose clamp and
disconnect the
upper hose.
