14 Remote Commands
The commands required to perform measurements in the Spectrum application in a
remote environment are described here.
It is assumed that the R&S FSW has already been set up for remote operation in a net-
work as described in Chapter 13.6, "How to Set Up a Network and Remote Control",
on page 797.
Compatibility with former R&S signal and spectrum analyzers
As a rule, the R&S FSW supports most commands from previous R&S signal and
spectrum analyzers such as the FSQ, FSP, FSU, or FSV. However, the default values,
in particular the number of sweep points or particular bandwidths, may vary. Therefore,
the R&S FSW can emulate these other devices, including their default values, in order
to repeat previous measurements or support existing control applications as in legacy
systems.

14.1 Conventions Used in SCPI Command Descriptions
Note the following conventions used in the remote command descriptions:
●
Command usage
If not specified otherwise, commands can be used both for setting and for querying
parameters.
If a command can be used for setting or querying only, or if it initiates an event, the
usage is stated explicitly.
●
Parameter usage
If not specified otherwise, a parameter can be used to set a value and it is the
result of a query.
Parameters required only for setting are indicated as Setting parameters.
Parameters required only to refine a query are indicated as Query parameters.
