7.1.3.3 Bleeding the fuel system
– Park the vehicle and shut off engine.
– Shut off the fuel connection to the intermediate tank. Move the longer service lever
(4) on the fuel supply control block (5) 45° back to the SERVICE position. This pre-
vents fuel from entering the engine from the intermediate tank.

– Call up on the R-Touch menu "Special functions".
– Choose in the line "Service fuel filter" option "ON". An actual fuel pressure is dis-
played on the R-Touch in millibars (mbar). The fuel pressure increases for some
time and remains constant at about 3500 mbar. Thus, the fuel system is vented.
– Start the diesel engine and then stop it immediately, then after the diesel engine
has stopped, set the option in the "Service fuel filter" line to "OFF".
– Open the fuel connection to the intermediate tank. Move the longer service lever
(4) on the fuel supply control block (5) 45° forward (vertical position).
