Introduction Configuring RMON Ethernet Statistics
Software Reference for SwitchBlade x3100 Series Switches (Network Management)
7-98
• Monitored interfaces must be enabled in order for counts to increment.
• Monitored interfaces must be configured with the number of buckets and intervals in which each bucket
collects data.
• When performance measurements are enabled, they cannot generate traps or logs unless a threshold is set.
7.5.5.4 Feature Interactions
Enabled ports for statistics are persistent over reboots and restarts.
After a CFC swap of activity on a duplex system or a SM Restart on a simplex or duplex system, disregard the
first interval of RMON statistics.
7.5.6 Configuring RMON Ethernet Statistics
To enable Ethernet statistics on an interface, follow these steps:
• Select an Ethernet interface.
• Turn the counter option ON.
• Set the rising and falling threshold values for the interface with the PACKETS parameter.
• Query the current counters.
7.5.6.1 Performance Management Configuration Procedure
TABLE 7-14 Configuration Procedure for RMON
Step Command Description
List the cards for the device to show which interfaces (eth) can be configured.
1
SHOW CARD=ALL Lists all cards on the device.
Enable the 10.0 interface for performance management for the Ethernet statistics.
2
SET INTERFACE=10.0 COUNTER=ON Turns on the counter for the specific interface.
3
SHOW INTERFACE=10.0 COUNTER=STATUS Displays the current counters.
Set the rising and falling threshold values for the interface.
4
ADD INTERFACE=ETH:11.0 RMONALERT PACK-
ETS ABSOLUTE INTERVAL=5 RISINGTHRESH-
OLD=100000 FALLINGTHRESHOLD=10000
Adds the PACKET RMONALERT threshold.
After the threshold is set, the alarm table can be shown.
5
SHOW INTERFACE=11.0 COUNTER STATUS Displays the alarm table.
