8.14 Performing a Material Thickness Compensation
\ Normal Setup \ Thick. Compensation
The Thick. Compensation menu is used to carry out a material
thickness compensation.
Fig.63: Thick. Compensation menu
When processing thick materials, this function is used to
compensate measurement errors that result from the material
thickness.
The material thickness compensation is carried out in three steps.
Step 1: Enter distance of the material from the CCD camera
›› The web of material is threaded in at the scanning level (ideal
case) and tensioned.
›› The CCD camera has been calibrated (see Calibrating the CCD
Camera, page 109).
›› The position of the scanning level is known. The scanning level
is the level at which the bottom side of the calibration
template was located during calibration of the CCD camera (see
Inserting the Calibration Template, page 108).
›› The LED lighting of the light box is switched on.
›› The Thick. Compensation menu is opened.
1. Determine the distance A from the bottom side of the web of
material to the sensor level of the CCD camera.
