9.8.6 Defining the Edge Detection Area
\ Edge Definition \ Definition Area [1..8]
The Definition Area [1..8] menu is used to define the search area
for the edge detection.

With the search area, you define the area where searching for the
edge selected should take place. Contrast transitions that are
located outside the defined search area are not detected as edge.
You can use the search area to fade out interfering contrasts that
would lead to undesired results when searching for the edge.
Interfering contrasts could be caused by, e.g.
■ Contamination of the light source
■ Parts of the machine frame that are located in the viewing
range of the CCD camera
■ Holes in the web of material to be scanned
