3. Select the Save Gadget and when the Workbench reappears, point to the
SetMap icon and double-click the Selection button.
After having installed the national keymap
as
described, the selected keyboard driver
is
loaded and
is
active for
all
programs you run from this point on.
All
previously started
programs
will
still use the initial keyboard driver
as
installed from the start.
If
you
always
want to use the same keymap, the following line has to
be
added
in
your
"s/startup-sequence"
file:
SETMAP code
Note: Not all
of
the keyboards listed above and shown on the pages following are
currently manufactured. It
is
also possible that other key maps may become.
available. Consult your Amiga dealer for information about availability. Each
keymap has a set
of
alternate characters. The alternate character set includes
special symbols and diacritical marks used
in
each language. To enter an
alternate character, hold down the Alt key while pressing another key on the
keyboard. Included among the alternate characters
in
the new key maps are
"dead" keys. These keys allow you to add accents and other diacritical marks to
selected characters. When you press a "dead" key, the cursor does not advance;
thus, the diacritical mark and the next character you type appear
in
the same
position. Not all characters can be combined with
"dead"
keys.
