AmigaDOS
and
the
eLI
You
don't always have to use the Amiga by clicking the mouse on icons and
menus.
You
can communicate directly with AmigaOOS
by
opening a eLi
window. eLi stands for command line interface. The eLi allows you to directly
issue commands to perforrp disk operations and file manipulations using the
AmigaOOS by typing commands at the keyboard, which appear
in
the eLi
window. The
mo~se
is
not used with eLi.
Accessing
eLI
To access eLi, the gadget for eLi
in
Preferences must be set to on.
Your Workbench disk may already have
eLi set on, and you need only open its
icon. Open the System drawer. If
eLi is set to on, there will be an icon for
it
in
this drawer;
if
there
is
no eLi icon, you will have to turn on eLi using
Preferences.
