8.3 INSTALLATION
Refer to Installation Drawing 800321 Sheet 49 for installation and wiring details.
8.3.1
Q-MUX Node Installation (P/N 425190-0001)
1. Install 4” x 4” x 1 3/4” back box to appropriate locations on site.
2. Remove blue terminal strip from Q-node PCB.
3. Connect wiring. Reinsert blue terminal strip to Q-Mux node. Be sure to line up post
and holes.
4. Mount Q-Mux node to the mounted back box.
8.3.2
Q-MUX Module Installation
1. A wire is run from the Q-Mux node up to 6000ft. This wire can accommodate 1 to
99 Q-EOLs or Q-1Rs or any combination of the two. The leads of the Q-EOL and Q-
1R are attached to the wire connected to the Q-Mux Node.
2. Mount Q-Mux module into an ETL approved field-supplied single gang box.
8.4 Q-MUX @ COMMANDS
The @ command language operates in conjunction with user text message screens for Zone,
Dialer or Box activation. An @ command will work with any priority level. The @ commands
available with Q-Mux are @Q (coded output capability) and @P (activate a relay). Additional
options must be purchased and installed to activate @commands. Refer to Section 22 @
Commands for more details.
8.4.1
Coded Output Capability
The SYSTEM 3505 has the ability to transmit the SST code via the Q-1R or Q-I/O
module. To transmit the SST box via the Q-Mux option, the SST3505/3505 option and
the Zone to Code SST 4000 options must be installed in the SYSTEM 3505.
The SYSTEM 3505 can automatically initiate a box transmission via a single Q-Mux
output device when a Zone, Dialer or Box Alarm condition is received. The following
text string must be added to any user text page for the desired zone, dialer or box:
@QNN-AA-BBBBB. Where NN indicates the node number (one or two digits from
one to 32), AA indicates the Q-Mux device address (one or two digits from one to 63),
and BBBBB can be any desired box number from one to five digits. The text location
after the box number must not contain a decimal number to indicate the end of the
desired box number. The command must have the dashes as shown or it will not
operate. If a short is placed on INPUT 1 on the rear of the SYSTEM 3505, it will skip
the box transmission while the input is shorted.
The default number of rounds to be transmitted is four, and the desired box speed,
index make break follows the SST SLOW settings. The box speed cannot be set to
anything faster than 1.4 seconds. The index should be left at the 50/50 make break.
When the SYSTEM 3505 sends a make or break signal to the node, it takes .3 seconds
before the relay will change state. If a new condition is sent prior to this time interval,
the first request will be ignored. The make break must stay 50/50, unless the box time
is reduced to several seconds.
