DAY NIGHT MODE
19.1 OVERVIEW
The DAY/NIGHT mode allows the SYSTEM 3505 unit to ignore ZONES, DIALERS, or
BOXES. This is ideal at times when it is desired to allow access to a protected area or to
ignore an ALARM condition for a given interval. The SYSTEM 3505 will only display a
single screen to indicate which groups are in the DAY mode. Up to 4,000 items can be
instructed to be ignored at any one time. These 4,000 items are divided into eight DAY mode
registers. The user can activate from one to eight registers to be placed in the DAY mode.
Each register can accommodate up to 500 ZONES, DIALERS or BOXES.
NOTE: The SYSTEM 3505 can only process 500 non-secure events. Up to 4,000 non-
secure events may be instructed to be in a DAY mode, but only 500 (including real ALARMS
and TROUBLES) may be active at any one time.
For example, it may be desirable to have SYSTEM 3505 to ignore an ALARM condition
when a door is opened. Place the ZONE number for the door in one of the eight registers.
Then, place that register in the DAY mode. When the door is opened, the SYSTEM 3505
will not process the ALARM. However, the open door is still an event internal to the
SYSTEM 3505. In addition to the open door in the DAY mode, 499 more events can be
processed. If the door were to close while still in the DAY mode, it would no longer be
counted as an event. Five hundred more events can be processed.
All ZONES, DIALERS and BOXES, in the DAY mode, will still process TROUBLE
conditions. SYSTEM 3505 units will also process priority level 1 alarms (FIRE) even if the
ZONE, DIALER or BOX is placed in the DAY mode.
19.2 HARDWARE & SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
The DAY/NIGHT mode is a software option that can be added to the SYSTEM 3505 at any
time. The DAY/NIGHT mode requires a MEM-600 for its data storage. A MEM-600 is
included with the DAY/NIGHT mode option and is installed in the next available EEPROM
socket on the memory card. Sheet 3 of the installation drawings (#800321) illustrates how to
install the MEM-600. Refer to Section 21, Uploading New Software Versions for
instructions on uploading software options.
Once the new software program is uploaded, on initial power up the SYSTEM 3505 will
prompt the user to set up the DAY/NIGHT memory. The user must answer Yes to activate
this new feature. The SYSTEM 3505 will not ask this question again once the memory has
been activated. The SYSTEM 3505 will use the next available MEM-600 for the
DAY/NIGHT mode (this may not be the MEM-600 already installed).
