15 DIRECT WIRE INPUTS
The Direct Wire Input for the SYSTEM 3505 allows processing of alarms received by
dedicated, metallic lines. The Direct Wire Input is composed of one or more 512 zone
controllers, depending on the total number of input lines to be monitored. The SYSTEM 3505
is supplied with one (1) 512 zone controller. The different types of interfaces are: End-of-Line
(EOL) resistor, supervised; Reversal polarity, and supervised. These interfaces are connected,
via ribbon cable, to the 512 zone controller or to the optional Round Cable Interface. The total
number of direct wire inputs that can be monitored in one system is 2048
.
15.1 512 ZONE CONTROLLER
512 Zone Controller: P/N 010001-0055
Installation Sheet: P/N 800321-05
The 512 Zone Controller supplies the proper format for processing of incidents from the
connected interfaces. All cabling and interfaces are supervised from the Zone Controller and
the removal of any cable or interface will be logged on the system printer. The direct wire
interfaces can be mixed in any order for a total of 16 interfaces for each 512 Zone Controller
installed in the SYSTEM 3505. The direct wire interface panels may be located anywhere in
the same room, provided the length of ribbon cable used does not exceed twenty-five (25) feet.
For longer distances, the Round Cable Interface is recommended.
15.2 REVERSIBLE POLARITY INPUT BOARD
Reversible Polarity Input Board P/N 450173-0001
Installation Sheet P/N 800321-04
The Reversible Polarity Input (RPI) board is capable of monitoring up to 32 inputs with
individual input currents of 0.002 to 0.750 Amperes. Current and reversing relay must be
supplied at the opposite end of the line being monitored. Optically isolated line inputs provide
protection from surges and line transients. Line current in one direction is monitored as secure
line; current in the opposite direction is monitored as an alarm condition; and no line current is
monitored as a trouble.
15.3 END OF LINE (EOL) INPUT CARD
EOL-32, 32 Zones End-of-Line Input Card P/N 450173-0002
EOL-32F, 32 Zones EOL with 60Hz Filter P/N 450173-002F
Installation Sheet P/N 800321-04
The End Of Line resistor supervised input card is capable of monitoring up to 32 inputs per
card, with up to 7000 Ohms of line resistance per line. Power for all lines is provided by the
SYSTEM 3505. These inputs must be connected to dry, (no potential) Telco or private,
dedicated, metallic lines. A 15K ohm resistor is supplied for each of the 32 inputs for
connection across the normally open alarm sensor at the time of installation. A normally open
line with an end of line resistor is monitored as a secure line; a shunted line is monitored as an
alarm condition; and an open circuit is monitored as a trouble. If this board is to be mounted in
an electrically noisy environment, a board with 60 Hertz filtering is available.
