TEST MODE
The Test Mode Option allows the operator to assign an account (temporarily) to the unique
status of “Test Mode” as needed during, for example, maintenance or repairs that affect the
functionality of FACPs or other devices monitored by the System 3505 and its Remote
Annunciators (please refer to P/N 700278: Remote Annunciator Installation and Manual for
Test Mode use with RAs and RA software for XP).
For example, a whole building’s (dialer) can be to be placed into Test Mode. A whole
building would be entered with a Dialer number followed by a hyphen, i.e. 120- . It also
allows placing unique account numbers into test mode, i.e. 12000003. When testing accounts
that are in a test mode, the SYSTEM 3505 will log any activity to the thermal printer. The
information is also sent to all Network units, as well as the Automation Systems, via the D-
LAN protocol. Accounts in test mode will not cause activations.
While a zone, dialer, RAD-box, or box is in Test Mode, the System 3505 will print and
display the Test Mode account activity but will not annunciate, nor is any operator
intervention required. The System 3505 simply logs the Test Mode account activity.
Typically, there are two ways in which facilities use Test Mode to test their alarms. The first
is a Building Test in which horns, bells, and Whistles are disabled. The smoke detectors and
other devices can then be tested fully without inconveniencing occupants. The other typical
application of alarm testing is a Fire Drill in which horns, bells, whistles, System 3505
annunciation, and evacuation procedures are all evaluated.
NOTE: Accounts can be placed into or removed from Test Mode at either the System 3505 or
the Remote Annunciator, and each will send the changes to the other.
