Selecting and setting up Configuration Tables must be done prior to setting up
customer numbers (dialer account numbers). See Section 7.4, Configuration
Tables. Configuration tables spell out the alarm, trouble and secure codes
applicable to each zone. The SYSTEM 3505 will accept up to eight different
configurations. Each configuration will accept codes for one - 99 zones. After
the Configuration tables are set up, specific customer numbers may be entered
for each Configuration.
NOTE: When selecting and setting up Configuration Tables, keep in mind that
the user has the ability to copy any configuration to another configuration. This
is explained in detail in Section 7.2.2.1 Configuration Tables.
7.3.3
Pulse Dialer Format Primer
The pulse dialer protocols are comprised of a three or four digit Customer
account number also referred to as a Subscriber number. The customer number
can use any digit between 0 and 9 as well as A thru F. Generally customer
number 0000 and FFFF are avoided, thus the range for the customer accounts are
0001 thru FFFE.
Additionally, the pulse dialers send a one or two digit zone number (The
SYSTEM 3505 converts all single zone numbers to a two digit zone number).
This zone number represents a condition such as Alarm, Trouble, Restore or they
are used to describe an “English” equivalent such as AC FAILURE, AC
RESTORE, DAILY TEST, PHONE line bad, etc.
The problem with using these zone numbers is that most pulse dialer
manufacturer’s protocols have assigned a variety of meanings to these zone
numbers. Thus, it is standard in this industry to utilize conversion tables to sort
the various definitions into meaningful alarm information to the SYSTEM 3505.
The SYSTEM 3505 provides eight possible conversion (Config) tables, in
addition to an “On the Fly” conversion capability covered in this section of the
manual. As a proprietary installation, users need to control how the pulse dialers
are set up when they are installed at the facility, or at a regional dispatching
center, the user needs to control how various alarm installers set up the dialer to
report the various conditions.
The System user needs to only allow protocols that have been developed in one
of the eight conversion (config) tables. Accounts using CID/SIA can be added to
any group, however, for the purpose of better record keeping, it is advisable to
establish a dedicated group for CID/SIA accounts. The only purpose to adding a
CID/SIA account is to log in that account, so the SYSTEM 3505 does not
complain of about receiving an unknown account and to provide a negative
report that the dialer failed to report in.
Let’s take subscriber account 1234 and assume that the user was just sent account
1234-01, to represent an alarm on a zone. The next question that needs to be
asked is what zone this dialer would send for trouble and for a restore. Will the
user receive a separate restoral to advise that the alarm restored, and a separate
restoral for a Trouble condition, or does this dialer send the same restoral code
regardless of the Alarm or Trouble condition?
The printout showing Configuration Table #1 is set up for separate restoral codes
for Alarm and Trouble, where Table #2 is set up for the same restoral code
regardless if the condition previously reported was an Alarm or a Trouble. In the
