MULTIPLEX
16.1 OVERVIEW
The Multiplex option is comprised of Data Gathering Modules (DGM) and Muxpads, both of
which make up the Digitize Multiplex option. The Multiplex option operates in conjunction
with all other options available in the SYSTEM 3505.
The SYSTEM 3505 can support 500 DGM panels with a maximum of 32,000 input zones and
32,500 output points. The SYSTEM 3505 can support 500 Muxpads with unlimited input
zones via the FACP interface, as well as 500 output points. Mixing DGM and Muxpads in any
one system is allowed, and will produce a combined maximum zone inputs and point outputs
based on the panels installed.
For simplicity, the term DGM will be used in this manual to mean either the DGM or the
Muxpad, unless specifically noted otherwise.
There are several DGM panels, including:
DGM-8LS 8 fixed zone inputs, 1 output relays, LED zone indicators and zone bypass
switches
DGM-16LS - 16 fixed zone inputs, 1 output relays, LED zone indicators and zone bypass
switches
DGM-32/64- available in 8, 16, 24, 32 & 64 zone input models in three different case styles.
LCD zone display and keypad program setup; includes one output relay
expandable to 65 relays total.
MUXPAD II – For interfacing to a variety of FACP panel brands
DGM-8LS, 6LS, and 32/64 series are AC powered and provide an internal battery & charger
circuit. The MUXPAD panels draw power from the FACP, except for the –RF version, which
are equipped with their own internal battery and charger and are AC powered.
The Multiplex option is available in MUX Single line out or MUX with 32-line driver card,
expandable to 128 lines. The single line out option is recommended for small installations,
where the DGMs are installed in a small complex. For larger installations, particularly facilities
using 16 or more DGM panels or those in which mixed communications protocols or Style 6
data paths are used, the Mux Option with 32-Line Driver is recommended (unless radio or
distributed audio is in use).
