THE REMOTE ANNUCIATOR
11.1 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
The DIGITIZE Remote Annunciator (RA) is used to provide multiple redundant operator
interfaces for one or more SYSTEM 3505 controllers. It features programmable color and
sound schemes for events, historical data, and data export functions. It is linked to the System
3505 using a standard Ethernet connection. If a Remote Annunciator is installed, it requires
that its program revision level be at least Rev 1.4.2 Build 4. The program is available for
download on the Digitize WEB page www.Digitize-inc.com.
The Remote Annunciator is currently available as a 12” (running Windows CE) or 15”
(Running Windows XP) panel computer or as a software module for use with PC, provided
by others. (PN010001-0007). Software updates are backwards compatible to the formerly
available 10.5” Remote Annunciator for XP. The software versions are available with a D-
LAN option. Other options available for the Remote Annunciator include SST Control (P/N
000001-0059) and D-LAN HUB (P/N 900911-0001).Please refer to sections 10.3. 10.4, and
12.1.1 of this manual for important information regarding use of 2 or more Remote
Annunciators with System 3505.
11.1.1
IP ADDRESSING NOTES
IMPORTANT: If the 10.5” Remote Annunciator purchased included the
Lantronics Ethernet Configurator card (located on the rear of the System 3505)
rather than the Smart-IP card PN 400568-0001, the Remote Annunciator ID must
be set to FFFF. This ensures that the Remote Annunciator(s) DLAN ID and the
3505 “TO” ID match exactly, or communication will fail. The latest RA software
changes operation of some user action signals “From” from using Broadcasting to
directly reply to the 3505. Should the system in use contain more then one RA
card, the Lantronics Ethernet Configurator must be upgraded to the Digitize Smart-
IP configurator card.
This also applies to software updates of the Remote Annunciator, and options
upgrades for SMS and SST. The Smart IP Card equipped System 3505 will use
wild card addresses (i.e., 0000) to address “I am talking to” functions, and does not
need the FFFF. In the Smart IP Card equipped operation of two or more Remote
Annunciator units, the Smart IP card no longer broadcasts changes such as
Operator ACK & Test Mode. The Smart IP Card now forwards this data based on
the other RA unit’s IP address.
Use of multiple RA units require that each RA be assigned a unique ID containing
the digits 1-9 or A-F.
11.1.2
D-LAN option for the RA or RA XP
The SYSTEM 3505 utilizes the D-LAN option for communications to and from the
RA units. Refer to section 10 of this manual for setup instructions for the D-LAN
option.
For set-up information regarding Smart –IP, please refer to manual 700275-0001
“D-LAN Option with Smart-IP”.
