CROSS ACK, CLEAR & CROSS DATA
13.1 OVERVIEW
The CROSS ACK option allows two or more SYSTEM 3505 units to share ACKNOWLEDGE,
CLEAR and external keyboard entry mode. If an alarm is received on two or more SYSTEM
3505 units, the user has the ability to ACKnowledge all units by pressing the ACK button on
one unit.
NOTE: SYSTEM 3505 units must be installed within the same room in order to use the
CROSS ACK option.
13.1.1
Installation
This option can be installed by the factory at time of initial order. This option can
also be installed in the field at any time. When the option is ordered with the
original purchase of the SYSTEM 3505, it will be installed and set up at the
factory. For field installation, however, the installer must connect a cable pair
between the RS-232 configurator cards to all systems that have the Cross ACK
option. The three wires must be connected TX to RX to both SYSTEM 3505 units.
One wire must connect the GND terminals of the RS-232 configurator together.
The BAUD rate of all systems using this option must be set to the same rate. The
number of bits must be 8. It is recommended that the BAUD rate be 9,600.
13.1.2
User Text Data
The Cross ACK option also allows entry of user text information to all SYSTEM
3505 units simultaneously. The text data can be entered on any of the SYSTEM
3505 units. The user can select to enter text for only one unit or all units. To enter
‘‘User Text’’, plug in the external keyboard. Upon keyboard plug, the display will
indicate:
To SEND DATA to
other SYS-3505
PRESS F9 then F1
press F1 now!!!
If F1 is pressed first, only the unit currently in use will be programmed. If F9 is
pressed and followed by F1, all SYSTEM 3505 units will be programmed.
NOTE: F1 must be pressed within six seconds of pressing F9. F1 must be pressed
while the fourth line of display reads “press F1 now!!!”. If that window of
opportunity is missed, , simply press F1 to get out of the programmable mode and
then press F9 followed by F1. As data is entered, all SYSTEM 3505 screens will
follow the screen from which the work is performed.
