TELEGRAPH CODED INTERFACE
14.1 OVERVIEW
The Telegraph Coded Input, TCI, may be added with any other option into the SYSTEM 3505.
The TCI allows the SYSTEM 3505 to receive an alarm via a coded telegraph alarm line. The
TCI option allows for 20 circuits of telegraph code per alarm monitor card inside of the
SYSTEM 3505. If more than 20 circuits are needed, another alarm monitor card may be added
for an additional 20 circuits.
The alarm can be either “OPEN” or “CLOSED” index type. Boxes of the “OPEN” or
“CLOSED” index can be mixed on the same alarm circuit. The inputs to the TCI can be any of
the following:
1. 100 MA
2. 24 VDC
3. NO Dry Contact
4. NC Dry contact
The inputs into the SYSTEM 3505 can be mixed in whatever order needed to make a complete
system. That is, circuit 1 can be 24 VDC, circuit 2 can be NC Dry Contacts, circuit 3 100 MA,
circuit 4 NO Dry Contacts and so on.
The Telegraph Coded Input option is available in three different models. The one circuit (TCI-
1), six circuits (TCI-6) and twenty circuits (TCI-20) are all capable of monitoring open or
closed index coded alarm circuits. The input interfaces for the TCI-6 and TCI-20 may be any
combination of 100, are 24 VDC and are a Normally Open contact or a Normally Closed
contact.
The TCI-1 requires no external interface. All TCI options convert coded alarm signals into the
proper format for processing by the SYSTEM 3505, as well as providing screw terminals to
which the coded alarm inputs may be connected. A ribbon cable of up to 25 feet is available
which interconnects the SYSTEM 3505 with the Input Panel Assemblies for the TCI-6 and
TCI-20. If longer cable lengths are required, the Round Cable Interface may be used.
