CAUTION! When interfacing to the 100MA Telegraph loop, the break current must be
less then 35Ma for the box to be properly decoded. Excessive ground on the circuit must
be cleared to insure that the open circuit loop current drops well below 35Ma.
14.8 UPDATING THE MAIN PROGRAM OF THE SYSTEM 3505
The TCI software must be installed on the SYSTEM 3505 in order to add the TELEGRAPH
option. Software upgrades may be obtained from the Digitize website at http://www.digitize-
inc.com. Refer to Section 21, Uploading New Software Versions for instructions.
14.9 INITIAL SET UP
For initial set up of the SYSTEM 3505, follow the set-up procedures in Section 4, USER
TEXT.
14.10 TEST PROCEDURES
After connecting any circuit to the input panel assembly, replace the AC power to the SYSTEM
3505 by inserting the fuse into the fuse box. After the unit finishes initializing, push the ACK
button. The unit will print out ACK. Follow procedure outlined below to test that each input is
set properly. For “OPEN” index boxes, the box time will be printed for the box after the fourth
round in which there was no error in decoding.
Prior to testing, all hook-up procedures must be followed.
1. Activate a telegraph box so that it sends an alarm to the SYSTEM 3505.
2. Monitor the SYSTEM 3505, being sure that it decodes the telegraphic box. As the box is
coding in, the screen will display the following:
CKT YY BOX XXXXX
INCOMING
TELEGRAPH SIGNAL
JAN 01 12:34:45
(where YY is the circuit number and XXXX is the box number.)
3. The system beeper will beep out the code if there is no other alarm to ACKnowledge. The
appropriate alarm level sound will be heard, instead of the beeper, if the system has an active
unACKnowledged condition.
4. On the SYSTEM 3505, the printer will be logging the alarm on a round-by-round basis.
5. After the first round, the SYSTEM 3505 will display any ‘‘User Text’’ that matches the
incoming box. If no message exists, it will default to a preset message of:
TELEGRAPH BOX XXXX
(where XXXX is the alarm code that was just decoded.)
6. After the final round, the message in number 5 above will be displayed. To ACKnowledge
the alarm, press the lighted ACK button. The printer will then display:
