the zone or box is out of service, this button will place it in service; if the zone, or
box is in service, this button will place it out of service.
• If the SYSTEM 3505 is supplied with only zones, then simply enter the zone
number and press the IN/OUT SERVICE button.
• If the SYSTEM 3505 is supplied with any other combination of dialers or
telegraph boxes, then the number of the zone or box must be entered and the
appropriate LOOK UP button pressed before pressing the IN/OUT SERVICE
button.
Any message currently on the display may be taken out of service or placed back
into service, by pressing IN/OUT SERVICE when the item is on the display.
The key click tone will turn into a BEEP sound when IN/OUT SERVICE is
pressed. IN/OUT SERVICE may be pressed in place of ACK to both
ACKnowledge an item and take it out of service in one step.
To take a DGM panel (Multiplex option) out of service, enter the DGM panel
number followed by the hyphen and a zero. Then press IN/OUT SERVICE. For
example, enter ‘‘23-0 IN/OUT SERVICE.’’
NOTE: If the SYSTEM 3505 is monitoring a combination of dialers, boxes and
zones, the user must press the Zone Lookup button prior to pressing IN/OUT
SERVICE. In this case, enter ‘23-0’, press Zone Lookup, and then press
IN/OUT SERVICE.
When a DGM is placed out of service, the following appears on the display:
POLLING SHUT OFF
O/S DGM# XXXXXXXXX

To put a DGM panel back into service, bring the DGM number up on the main
display, enter the password (if required) and press IN/OUT SERVICE. The
thermal printer will print out the new status of the current zone, digital dialer, and
telegraph boxes when the IN/OUT SERVICE button is used.

Shift Key ( )
Several keys on the SYSTEM 3505 front panel have two functions. The SHIFT
key is used to activate the second function. The 1 - 6 keys are also used to enter
hexadecimal characters. For example, to enter 123-E9, press “1” “2” “3” “-”
“SHIFT” “5” “9”. The SHIFT 5 will enter the hexadecimal value “E”. In some
SYSTEM 3505 units the STATUS key is the second function of the PAPER
ADVANCE key. To get a STATUS printout press SHIFT, PAPER ADVANCE.
In some SYSTEM 3505 units the REPORT key is the second function of the
PRINT key. To get a REPORT printout press SHIFT, PRINT.
When entering numbers into the SYSTEM 3505, pressing the SHIFT key will
cause the word SHIFT to appear as the first word of the first line of the large
character text. This indicates that the System is in the SHIFT mode. Entering
the numerals one through six while in the SHIFT mode will cause the HEX
characters A through F to be displayed. To exit SHIFT mode, simply press the
