12.3 SETTING NETWORK ADDRESS
The SYSTEM 3505 units are programmed to be Masters or Slaves by entering the Network
SETUP Mode. The Master unit is declared and then it is programmed with all the SLAVE
numbers with which it is expected to communicate. The Network Setup Mode on the Master
SYSTEM 3505 allows additions and deletions of slaves as needed.
After the network address is set at the Master Unit, the corresponding Slave ID must be set. On
the SLAVE SYSTEM 3505, enter Network Setup and follow the instructions on the display to
enter the SLAVE ID number.
Each slave unit can be synchronized to the master unit time clock at the Slave Menu screen.
Refer to Section 12.2, NETWORK OPTION
SETUP
, and APPENDIX B: 7 Set & 34 Set
Menus for more Network Address details.
12.4 FILTERING ALARM RESPONSES AND PRIORITY LEVELS
The Slave SYSTEM 3505 may be programmed to filter priority levels. The Master and Slave
SYSTEM 3505 units may be programmed to send or receive ACKnowledge (ACK) or CLEAR
(CLR) conditions. In the Network Setup mode, the user selects ‘3’ (Set Options) and scrolls
through the screens to select the alarms that the SYSTEM 3505 should receive. For example,
Slave Unit #2 is located at an Environmental Station and the user does not want it to receive
Burglary Alarms. At Slave #2, the response would then be ‘No’ to the screen that asks ‘Should
I RX Burglary’.
The SYSTEM 3505 units can also be instructed to send or receive an ACK or CLR. Continue
to scroll through the SET OPTIONS menus to program ACK or CLR conditions. Certain Slave
units may be programmed to receive an alarm for the purpose of information only. No action is
expected from the party in receipt of the alarm. For example, the usermay decide to allow the
Environmental Station to receive Burglary alarms, but they should not be allowed to transmit
an item ACK since they will not actually respond to the alarm. The Environmental Station
Slave unit may then be allowed to receive the item ACK when the correct SYSTEM 3505
ACKnowledges the alarm.
The ACK and CLR signal will ACKnowledge or Clear the same condition on all units. Thus, if
two or more SYSTEM 3505 units are used in dispatch mode, all SYSTEM 3505 units will
ACK or CLR the same condition.
The SYSTEM 3505 units can be programmed to send and receive Solid State Transmitter Box
signals and to transmit BOX rounds. The user responds ‘YES’ or NO’ to the ‘Should I’
prompts in the SET OPTIONS portion of the Network Setup. Refer to Appendix B-11 for
menu details.
NOTE: Please refer to section 9.3.1 CAPS II OUTPUT
SETTINGS
for details regarding
“Should I” command settings when used with CAPS II protocol.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The System 3505 is shipped with options preset to
conform to ANSI UL 864. Should the user elect to change these settings,
those changes may not conform to ANSI UL 864. For example, the Network
Option 7 SET menu allows the user to cause an ACK to ber routed to the other
System 3505 units for remote ACKnowledge. The default settins are for the
