5.3.3 Updating expansion card firmware
For Japan:
Follow the instructions provided separately

After replacing the expansion card, it is essential to apply the firmware.
After replacing the RAID card, it is essential to upgrade the firmware to the
latest version without connecting any storage devices.
Some expansion cards may require to update other cards, even if the
replaced card has the latest firmware. Check the update instructions for
each card.
Some FC/CNA/LAN/IB cards support adjusting the firmware version after
maintenance and replacement to the specified version. Check the update
instructions for each card.
PCIe SSDs can only operate with a combination of supported firmware
versions and device driver versions. Check the device driver version number
(customer work) before starting work, and apply the firmware corresponding
to the device driver version number
.

Note on the boot watchdog
Before updating expansion card firmware, ensure that the boot
watchdog is disabled, see "Disabling the boot watchdog" on page
90.
After updating expansion card firmware, enable the boot watchdog
again, see "Enabling the boot watchdog" on page 101.
