System board and components
14.7.1.3 Installing the new system board
Ê Check the settings on the new system board (see section "Onboard
settings" on page 340).
Ê Insert the system board by holding it at a slight angle. Slide the connectors
into the connector panel (see figure 214 on page 306).
Ê Lower the system board carefully into the chassis.
Ê Adjust the system board. If necessary adjust the position of the system
board with a gentle twisting motion.
Ê Fasten the system board with the eight screws (see figure 213 on page 305).
Ê Remove the CPU from the defective system board as described in section
"Removing the CPU" on page 234.
Ê Remove the protective plastic cover from the CPU socket of the new system
board and fit it onto the socket of the defective system board which will be
sent back to spares.
I Returned system boards without this cover probably have to be
scrapped.
Ê Confirm that the CPU model number printed on the top of the CPU fits with
the requirements.
Ê Install the CPU on the new system board as described in section "Installing
the CPU" on page 235.
Ê Reconnect all cables to the system board:
– Two power cables of PSU
– Fan cables
– Front panel cable
– Front USB cable
– Power cable for HDD backplane
– SATA cable(s) for HDD backplane
– SATA cable for ODD (if applicable)
– Power cable for ODD (if applicable)
– Front VGA cable (if applicable)
– OOB cable (if applicable)
