8.1 Basic information
Base units are supplied with four hot-plug fan modules (single CPU
configuration and depending on CPU type) or six hot-plug fan modules (two
CPUs configuration and depending on CPU type). Each fan module consists of
two fans, implemented in one housing.
Base units with four fan modules operate in a 1 of 4 redundancy, base units with
six fan modules operate in a 1 of 6 redundancy. In other words, if one of the four
or six fan modules fails, the system will operate without any problem. The failed
fan module can be exchanged without shutting down the server.
