Song Play operating mode
Master Volume, Sequencer Volume, BALANCE
When you enter Song Play mode from the Style Play
mode,theRealtimetracksarethesameastheStylePlay
mode. A quick way to select Programs and Effects for
theRealtimetracksischoosingadifferentPerformance.

BALANCE
While the MASTERVOLUME slider controlsthegen
eral volume of the instrument, yo
u can use the ACC/
SEQ VOLUME slider to control only the Sequencers
tracksvolume.Thisletsyouadjustthe Sequencersvol
ume alone, whil
e the Realtime (Keyboard
) tracks are
notaffectedbythisslider.
UsetheBALANCEsliderto mixbetweenSequencer1
and Sequencer 2. Move it to the center for the maxi
mumvolumeofbothsequencers.
EFFECTS IN SONG PLAY MODE
The microARRANGER is equipped with four effect
processors,orDSPs(DigitalSignalProcessors).InSong
Playmodeyoucanhavetwoorfoureffectsatthesame
time,dependingonthemidifileyouarereading.
Note:WhenplayingbackaSongthatmakesuseofallfour
effects (A–
D), you can’t edit any parameter devoted to the
effects.Theseparametersappeargreyedoutinthedisplay.
•ASong createdonthemicroARRANGER(inSong
orBackingSequ
encemode)canuseupto4effects
(usually 2 reverbs + 2 modulating effects); each
trackmayusetheA/BorC/Dpair.
•AStandardMIDIFilewillonlyuse2effects(usu
al
ly 1 reverb+ 1 modulating effect). This lets you
usetherema
ining2effectsfortheRealtimetracks.
Whenusingbothsequencersatthesametim e,and
the “S2 FX Mode” is set to “A / B Mode” (see
page80),theyonlyusethe A/Bpair,w
hiletheC/D
pairisreservedtotheRealtime(k
eyboardtracks).
•Whenusingbothsequencersatthesametime,and
the “S2 FX Mode” is set to “C/D Mode” (see
pag
e80), Sequencer 1 uses the A/B pair, while
Sequencer2us
esthe C/Dpair,sharingit withthe
Realtime(keyboardtracks).
GROOVE QUANTIZE WINDOW
You can apply a realtime “groovequantization” to
Sequencer1.Groovequantizationisawayofchangingthe
music groove during the playback, moving notes to the
nearestaxisofarhythmic“grid”.Pleasefeelfreetoexperi
ment:thisfunctionisagreatso
urceofmusicalinve
ntion.
WhileinSongPlay,pressG.QUANTIZE.Thefollowing
windowwillappear.
PressEXITtoexitthiswindow.
Enable
Enables/disable the quantize. It is automatically set to
Off each time the instrument is turned on, or when
selectingadifferentSong.
NStart (Note Start)
Enables/disablesthequantizationoftheNoteOnevent
(i.e.beginningofthenote).
NDurat (Note Duration)
Enables/disablesthequantizationoftheNoteOffevent
(i.e.thelengthofthenote).
Res (Resolution)
Coarsequantizegrillresolution. This parameter is the
main quantization value, to be varied with the Acc,
SwingandWindowvalues.

ple, when you select 1/8, all notes are
moved
to the nearest 1/8 division. When
you select 1/4,all notes are moved to the

Acc (Accuracy)
Accuracy percentage of quantize. For example, if
Acc=50, and the note is 20 tics away from the coarse
grid,itismovedtothegridofonly10tics.
