Inmoderatetoseverefrontalornearfrontalcollisions,even
beltedoccupantscancontactthesteeringwheelorthe
instrumentpanel.Inmoderatetoseveresidecollisions,even
beltedoccupantscancontacttheinsideofthevehicle.
Theairbagsupplementstheprotectionprovidedbyseatbelts
bydistributingtheforceoftheimpactmoreevenlyoverthe
operator’sbody.
WhatWillYouSeeAftertheAirbagInates?
Aftertheairbaginates,itwillthendeaterapidly.Some
componentsoftheairbagmodulewillbehottothetouchfor
severalminutes.
Partsoftheairbagmaybewarm,butnottoohottotouch.There
couldbesmokeanddustcomingfromtheventsinthedeated
airbag.Airbaginationdoesnotpreventtheoperatorfrom
seeingoutofthewindshieldorbeingabletosteerthevehicle,
nordoesitpreventoccupantsfromleavingthevehicle.

Topreventpersonalinjury,and/ordeath,
occupantsshouldexitthevehicle,ifpossible,as
soonasitissafetodosofollowinganairbag
deployment.Theremaybedustintheairwhen
anairbaginates,whichcouldcausebreathing
problemsforpeoplewithahistoryofasthmaor

andexitingthevehicleisnotpossible,getfresh
airbyopeningawindoworadoor.Ifbreathing
problemsoccurfollowingairbagdeployment,
seekmedicalattentionimmediately.
