Bobtailproportioningisavailablewithtractorairbrakesystems
(forexportonlywithCode04092)withorwithoutABSorABS
/TractionControlSystems.Theproportioningvalvesenses
whentrailerbrakesarenotconnectedtothevehicleairbrake
system,andautomaticallyadjustsrearbrakingpowerwhen
operatinginthebobtailmode,thenreturnsfullbrakingpower
whenatrailerisattached.Whenoperatinginthebobtail
mode,bobtailproportioningprovidesmorebrakingcontroland
shorterstoppingdistances,particularlyonwetandslipperyroad
surfaces.
Itshouldbenotedthatthereisanoticeablydifferentbrakepedal
feelontractorswiththisfeaturewhileoperatinginthebobtail
mode.Higherbrakepedaleffortswillbeexperiencedbythe
driverthanwheninabrakesystemwithoutbobtailproportioning.

BrakeSystem(s)(ABS).ABSaredesignedto
enhanceoverallvehiclesafetywhenavehicle
isdrivenwithinitssafeoperatinglimits.ABS
cannotcompensateforavehiclethatisbeing
drivenbeyondthephysicallimitsofcontrol.
WARNING
Topreventpersonalinjuryand/ordeath,or
damagetoproperty,donotrelyontheABS
tointerruptvehicleenginebrakeonslippery
roadsurfaces.Turnthesedevicesoffduring
hazardousdrivingconditions.Failuretofollow
thiswarningmaycausewheelslippageand/or
lossofvehiclecontrol.
TheABSisamandatedfeatureaddedtothestandardairbrake
system.Itelectronicallymonitorsvehiclewheelspeedatall
times,andengagesonlywhenwheellockisimminent.The
standardairbrakesystemcontrolsnormalbrakingwhentheABS
isnotengaged.

brakingconditions.Takeeveryprecautionto

ABSrequiresnochangesindrivingpractices.Forthebest
stoppingperformancewithorwithoutABS,modulate–do
notpump–thebrakepedaluntilthevehicleslowstodesired
speedorstops.BeawarethatABSonatowingvehicledoes
