wipedclean,theninsertedallthewayandagainwithdrawnfor
atruecheck.
Useonlyrecommendedviscosityengineoil.RefertotheEngine
OperationandMaintenanceManualforengineoilspecications
andproperoilchoice.
Thelubricatingoilinadieselenginebecomesdarkincolor
aftershortperiodsofengineoperation.Thisdiscolorationisnot
harmfultoenginepartsaslongastheoilandoillterelement
changesareperformedatrecommendedintervals.
EnginePerformanceProblems
Lowenginepowercanbetheresultofapluggedfuellter.
Fuellterscanplugprematurelyduetotheuseoffuelthat
iscontaminatedwithahighamountofsediment,microbial
growth,orwater.Fuelthathasbeenstoredforlonger
periodsoftimemayalsoreduceengineperformance.
Failuretomaintainthevehicleasrequiredinthe
MaintenanceInstructionsandMaintenanceIntervalsand
Specicationssectionsofthismanual,aswellasany
separatelyavailableEngineOperationandMaintenance
Manual,cancauseengineperformanceproblems.
Toolowofacetanenumbercouldcausehardstartingand
slowerwarm-upandcouldincreaseenginenoiseandexhaust
emissions.

UltraLowSulfurDieselFuelRequirements
UltraLowSulfurDiesel(ULSD)fuelisrequiredforallon-highway
dieselenginesusedwithadvancedaftertreatmentsystems
(DieselParticulateFiltersDPF).Forcompletedetailsonfuel
requirements,seetheEngineOperationandMaintenance
Manualsuppliedwiththevehicle.
UnacceptableFuelBlends
Biodieselblendshavingmorethan5%purebiodieselarenot
withinASTMD975dieselspecications.
Todetermineacceptablebiodieselandbiodieselblends,referto
theEngineOperatorandMaintenanceManualfortheapplicable
engine.
HazardsofDieselFuel/GasolineBlends
WARNING
Topreventpersonalinjuryand/ordeath,or
damagetoproperty,neveraddgasoline,gasohol
and/oralcoholtodieselfuel.Thismixture
createsanextremereandexplosionhazard.
Blendingofgasolineand/oralcoholwithdieselfuelisnot
recommendedduetothehazardsofre/explosionandthe
detrimentaleffectsonengineperformance.
