9.Allwheelsundergoaprocesscalledjointsettlingwhen
placedinserviceafterawheelinstallationhasbeen
performed.Thisprocessresultsinareductioninthetorque
onthewheelnuts.T ocorrectthiscondition,operatethe
vehiclenormallyforapproximately50miles(80km),then
useacalibratedtorquewrenchtoretorquethewheelnuts
tospecicationusingtheappropriatepatternshowninthe
wheelnutstorquesequencediagram.
10.Aspartofadailypretripinspection,lookforlooseormissing
wheelnuts.Alsolookforruststreaksextendingoutward
fromthewheelnuts;thiscanbeanindicatorthatoneor
morewheelnutsareloose,eveniftheycannotbeturned
byhand.Normalperiodicmaintenanceshouldalsoinclude
checkingthewheelnuttorquewithatorquewrench.

Checklubricantlevel.Withthevehicleonlevelground,verify
thattransmissionlubricantlevelisevenwiththebottomofthe
inspectionpluginthesideofthetransmission.Checkshifterfor

Trytostartthevehicleinallshiftselectorpositionsother
thanNeutral.ThestartershouldoperateONLYwhenthe
shiftselectorisinNeutral.
