EngineIdleShutdownTimer(IfEquipped)
ThisvehiclemaybeequippedwithanoptionalIdleShutdown
Timerthatwilllimitengineidletimetocomplywithcertainstate
andlocalregulationsand/orowner/operatorpreferences.If
theoptionalIdleShutdownTimerisenabled,theenginewillshut
downafterapreprogrammedtimeofextendedidling.Thiswill
alsoshutdownallelectricalloadsexceptforlights.Allowable
idletimesmayvaryfromstatetostateandwithowner/operator
preferences.Idletimesmayalsobedependentonvehicle
conditionssuchasParkingBrakestatus,PTO(ifequipped)
status,transmissionstatus,andothers.
Thevehicleowneroroperatorisresponsibleforcompliancewith
allstateandlocalregulations.
Ifthevehiclehasthissystemenabled,theIDLE
SHUTDOWNindicatorwillilluminateYELLOWin
theelectronicgaugeclusterwillturnon30seconds
beforeengineshutdown.Thisindicationwillcontinue
untiltheengineshutsdownorthesystemisreset.
WinterFrontUsage
Exceptinextremelycoldconditions,Navistardoesnot
recommendtheuseofwinterfrontsorotherrestrictivedevices
mountedinfrontofthecoolingmodule(suchas,radiatorand
chargeaircooler)onInternational
®
vehicles.Theuseofwinter
frontsorotherairrestrictivedevicescanaffectengineemissions
and/orcauseOBDfaultcodes,highexhausttemperatures,
powerloss,excessivefanusage,and/orareductioninfuel
economy.
Theappropriateselectionofawinterfrontdependsonthe
ambientconditions,vehicletype,vehicleusage(highway,rural,
stationary),andthewinterfrontopeningsizes.Ifyouusea
winterfrontdevice,itshouldconsistofapermanentopening
aboveordirectlyinlinewiththefancenter.Theopening(s)
shouldbeappropriateinsizeforthevehicleapplication;for
example,vehiclesusedathighwayspeedscanutilizesmaller
openings,whileruralorstationaryapplicationswillrequire
largeropeningstopreventoverheating.Inanysituation,avoid
blockageofentireheatexchangertubesorsubstantialvariation
inblockageofadjacenttubes.
HotWeatherOperation
1.Keepcoolingsystemlledwithcleanpermanent
antifreezesolutiontoprotectagainstdamageby
overheating.
2.Fillfueltankatendofdailyoperationtoprevent
condensationintank.
3.Keepexternalsurfaceofengine,radiator,chargeair
cooler,A/Ccondenser,andaccessoriescleantoavoid
dirtbuildup.
Excessivecoolanttemperaturecouldbeexperiencedwhile
drivingintoohighoftransmissiongearratio,whichwouldlug
theengine.Tocorrecttheproblem,increaseenginespeed
bydownshiftingintothenextlowergeartoincreaseengine
rpm,whichwillincreasecoolantowthroughtheradiatorand
increasefanspeed.
