buttonENGBRAKEON/OFFswitchonthe
steeringwheel(pressingthisswitchagainwill
deactivatethesystem).TheENGINEBRAKE
SELECTOR1/2/3switchisthenusedtoadjust
theamountofbrakingapplied.
Usingenginebrakingfeaturescanextend
brakelininglife.Thefeaturesalsoallowthe
drivertoslowthevehicledownormaintainaconstantspeed
onsteeproadgradesthatwouldotherwiseresultinprolonged
useoftheservicebrake,whichcouldcausebrakefade.Refer

informationontheenginebrakingsystem.

stalk.Theshifterstalkislocatedontheright-sideofthesteering
column.T ooperatetheenginebrakecontrols,pulltheshifter
stalkdowntowardstheoor.Therearethreedifferentengine
brakelevels.
EngineBrakeWithAllisonTransmissions
WhentheTransmissionControlModule(TCM)detectsthe
enginebrakehasbeenenabled,itcommandsuseofa
preselectedshiftscheduleinordertoenhancetheenginebrake
performance.

enginebrakeperformance.
•Keepenginespeedascloseto2,250rpmaspossible.

downshiftsarecompleted.Failuretodosomaycause
missedshifts.
•Thegeardisplayontheshiftselectorwillstopblinking
whenthedownshiftiscompleted,andthedriverwillnotice
resumptionofenginebrakingasanindicationthatthe
shiftiscompleted.
