ClutchBrake
NOTE:AfterengagementofrstgearDONOTusetheclutch
brakeforupshiftinganddownshifting.Todosowillshorten
theservicelifeoftheclutchbrake,andgearselectionshift
effortsmaybeincreased.
Aclutchbrakeisusedtostoptransmissioninputshaftrotationso
thattheinitialrstorreversegearselectioncanbeaccomplished
whenthevehicleisatastandstillandtheengineisrunningat
idlespeed.
Whenusingtheclutchbrake,fullydepresstheclutchpedaland
shiftthetransmissionintoeitherrstorreversegear.Ifthe
transmissiondoesnotgointorstgearorreverse,toothbutting
maybeoccurring.Slowlyreleasetheclutchpedalwhileapplying
lightpressureontheshiftleveruntilthetransmissiongoesinto
gear.Thiswillprovideforasmoothshiftintoeitherrstorreverse
gear.
Serviceisrequiredwhentheclutchbrakecannotbeengaged,
shiftingintogearisextremelytough,orgrindinggearswhen
shiftingfromastop.Serviceisalsorequirediftheclutchpedal
becomesspongyorthereisasuddenchangeinclutchfreeplay
travel.

Maintainspeciedclutchadjustment.Regularlyinspectclutch
controllinkagefortightness.
Whenadjustmentoftheclutchisnecessary,itisextremely
importantthattheworkbeproperlyperformed;otherwise,early
failureoftheclutchwillresultandacostlyclutchoverhaulwill
benecessary.

experiencedmechanicstoperformtheseoperations.
