Whendrivingwithasingletrailer,doubles,ortriples:Brake
asnecessary,watchyourtrailer(s)throughyourmirrors,and
correctsteeringasnecessarytokeepinstraightlines.
IfonlyyourtractorhasABS:Useyourtractor’sABSbrakes.
Steerclearofobstaclesandwatchthetrailerthroughyour
mirrorstomakesureitfollowsyourtractorproperly.Tractor
ABSwillhelppreventtractorjackknifebutwillnotpreventtrailer
swingout.
AutomaticTractionControl(ATC)System
GeneralInformation
TheAutomaticTractionControl(ATC)featureisanavailable
optiononsomemodels.AutomaticTractionControlisan
integratedadditiontotheABS.Thissystemutilizesinputfrom
theindividualwheelsensorstodetermineifdriveaxlewheel
slipisoccurringduringvehicleacceleration.Ifdriveaxlewheel
slippageisoccurring,thecontrollerrelayinitiatesactionto
reduceenginepowerand/ortoselectivelyapplyrearbrakes
totransferpowerfromtheslippingwheeltotheopposite
wheel.Thisenablesthevehicletogainmomentumandmove
torquetoroadsurfacesprovidingmoretraction.Thesystem
instantlyblinksanindicatortoadvisethedriverthatwheelspin
isoccurring.
Ifwheelspinoccursatspeedsabove25mph(40km/h),the
indicatorblinksand,usingitslinktotheenginecontrolmodule,
theATCreducesenginetorquetoalevelsuitableforthe
availabletraction.Thebrakesarenotapplied,evenslightly,at
anyspeedabove25mph(40km/h).
BoththeABSandATCarefeaturesaddedtothebasicairbrake
system,andthelossofeitherorbothshouldinnowayaffectthe
basicbrakesystem.ABSandATCrequirenochangesindriving
styleanditisbestnottochangeyourusual,carefuldriving
habits.Otherthanduringinitialstart-up,whentheTRACCTRL
indicatorashesandthengoesout,theATCsystemshouldnot
benoticeduntilit’sneeded.Routineoperationofthebrakesand
acceleratorisunchanged.
ATCSystemCheck
AtignitionturnON,theTRACCTRLindicatorwillilluminate
steadilyfor2.5secondsandthenturnOFF .Ifnot,thesystem
isdefectiveorinoperative.
ATCOFFROADorMUD/SNOWSwitch
TheoptionalATCsystemcomesequipped
withoneoftwoswitchesthatperformthe
samefunctionsofenablinganddisablingthe
ATCsystem.
