eitherinationordeationoperation,theASDswitchwill
havetobemanuallyrecycledaftertheeventhaspassedin
ordertocompletetheoperation.
NOTE:Theelectricalsystemwillautomaticallyswitchfrom
deatetoinateifthevehiclespeedexceeds5mph(8km/h).
Oncethisoccurs,theonlymeanstodeatethesuspension
willbetoslowthevehicleto5mph(8km/h)andrecyclethe
SUSPDUMPswitchtotheDUMPposition.
AirSuspensionSystemFaults
•Theelectronicgaugeclusterwillissueanaudible10-beep
alarmwheneverthedriverpushestheDUMPpositionof
theSUSPDUMPswitchandthevehicleexceeds5mph
(8km/h).
•TheSUSPDUMPswitchindicatorwillblinkrapidlyinthe
eventofasystemcomponentfailureorabadsystem
signalstatus,whentheSUSPDUMPswitchisinthe
DUMPposition.
•TheSUSPDUMPswitchindicatorwillblinkslowlyin
theeventofanESCcommandfault,regardlessofthe
positionoftheSUSPDUMPswitch.

Introduction
SelectiveCatalyticReduction(SCR)istheaftertreatment
technologythattreatsexhaustgasdownstreamoftheengine.
Itusesaurea-basedDieselExhaustFluid(DEF)andacatalyst
tosignicantlyreducenitrogenoxide(NOx)emissions.
DieselExhaustFluid
DieselExhaustFluid(DEF)isnontoxic,nonammable,and
biodegradable.Itisacarefullyblendedaqueousureasolution
of32.5%high-purityureaand67.5%deionizedwater.
Ifstoredbetween10°and90°F(-12°and32°C),DEFhasshelf
lifeof12monthsminimum.Forbestshelflife,DEFcontainers
shouldbestoredinacontrolledenvironmentoutofdirect
sunlight.
TheamountofDEFconsumptiondependsonenginespeed,
load,andaltitude;therefore,itdiffersfromvehicletovehicle.
CAUTION
Topreventpropertydamage,Navistar,Inc.
requirestheuseofDieselExhaustFluid(DEF)
thatmeetsorexceedsISO-22241-1.Thereisno
acceptablesubstitute.
