seatbelttensioningsystem,andasiderolloverairbag.Located
atthebaseofthedriver’sand/orpassenger’s(ifequipped)seat,
therolloversensorcontinuouslymonitorsthetruck’sangularrate
atalltimesaftercompletionofaninitialdiagnosticcheck.
Duringalife-threateningrolloverevent,thesensorcompares
thetruck’sacceleration,rollangle,androllrateagainst
knownrolloverconditions.Whenthecomparisonindicatesan
irrecoverablerollovercondition,thesensordeploystheside
airbag.
SideRollAirbagDeployed
Uponreceivingthesignalfromtherolloversensor,gascylinders
insidetheseatbaseactivatetotightenthelapandshoulder
beltsaroundthedriverand/orpassengerandlowertheseat
suspension.Asthegascylinderstightentheseatbeltandlower
theseat,aside-rollairbagwilldeployfromtheoutboardsideof
theseatback.Theairbagwillinatebetweenthedriver’sand/
orpassenger’shead/neckandthesidewall/doorofthetruck.
Theairbagwillremaininatedforseveralsecondstoprovide
addedprotectionduringmultiplerolloverevents.
