damage,clutchpedalmustengageclutchbrake
beforethephysicallimitofpedaltravel.Whenthe
clutchpedalpositionatclutchbrakeengagement
islessthan0.5inch(12.7mm)fromthephysical
travellimit,manualclutchadjustmentisrequired
forallEaton
®
EasyPedal
®
(EP)clutches.
Ifnon-self-adjustingclutchesareusedinthisapplication,itis
importantthatclutchadjustmentsbemaintained.Adjustment
intervalsshouldbeevery20,000miles(32,000km).When
utilizinganEaton
®
EPclutchwithahydraulicclutchactuator,
thecabclutchpedalcannotbeusedtoindicatewhenclutch
adjustmentisrequired.Driversmaynotnoticetheneedfor
clutchadjustmentandcontinuetodriveinsuchcondition.Lack
ofadjustmentwilleventuallyleadtoyokeinterferencewiththe
clutchcovercausingextensiveclutchand/ortransmission
damage.
Whenusingtheclutchbrake,fullydepresstheclutchpedaland
shiftthetransmissionintoeitherrstorreversegear.Ifthe
transmissiondoesnotgointorstgearorreverse,toothbutting
maybeoccurring.Slowlyreleasetheclutchpedalwhileapplying
lightpressureontheshiftleveruntilthetransmissiongoesinto
gear.Thiswillprovideforasmoothshiftintoeitheraforwardor
reversegear.
NOTE:Afterengagementofrstgear,DONOTusethe
clutchbrakeforupshiftinganddownshifting.Todoso
willshortentheservicelifeoftheclutchbrake,andgear
selectionshifteffortsmaybeincreased.Clutchbrake
applicationoccursinthelast2inches(50mm)ofpedal
travel.
DoubleClutchProcedures
Inordertoproperlyupshiftordownshift,besuretodothe
following:
•Depresstheclutchpedaltodisengagetheclutch.
•ShiftthetransmissionintoNeutral.
•Releasetheclutchpedal.
•Ifupshifting,waituntiltheenginespeedmatches
thetransmissionspeedofthegearyoudesireto
shiftinto.
•Ifdownshifting,acceleratetheengineuntilthe
enginespeedmatchestheinputspeedofthegear
youdesiretoshiftinto.
•Depresstheclutchpedalimmediatelyandshiftintothe
desiredgear.
•Releasetheclutchpedaltoengagetheclutch.
