Operation
Beforemovingthetowedvehicle,checkforadequateroad
clearanceofvehiclecomponents.Navistar,Inc.recommends
unloadingthetowedvehiclepriortotowingtoreduceany
abnormalloadstothevehiclecomponentsresultingfromthe
towingprocedures.Beforetowing,besuretofullyreleasethe
parkingbrake.Thespring-actuatedtypeparkingbrakecanbe
releasedbyrechargingtheairsystemwithatleast64psi(441
kPa)ofair.Ifbrakesystemwillnotretainairpressure,then
thespringbrakesmustbeheldinthereleasedposition(caged)
manually.SeeParkingBrakesection.

TworemovablefronttowhooksareoptionalonInternational
®
LT
®
andRH
Seriesmodels.Thetowhooksareinserteddirectly
intothefrontsuspensionbracketwheninuse,andcanbe
convenientlystoredinthecabwhennotinuse.T owhooks
provideaconvenientattachmentpointfromwhichtorecover
thevehicleinemergencysituations.
NOTE:Theoptionaltowhooksarestoredinabracket
attachedtotherearsideoftheseatbasesondaycab
modelsandinaplasticcaseunderthebunkonsleeper
models.
NOTE:Donotleavetowhooksinreceiverswhennotinuse.

Insertthetowhooksthroughthefrontbumperandintothe
receivers(towhooksmusthavethepointofhooksvertical
whileinsertingintoreceiver).Pushoneachtowhookand
rotateoutward90°tosecurethehooksinthelockedposition.
Thepointofeachtowhookispointedoutboardonthetruckto
preventdamagetothebumperduringtowing.
