HeavyDutyOn-BoardDiagnostics(HD-OBD)isaU.S.
Governmentmandatedstandardforall2013andlaterClass4
andabovevehicleswithaGrossVehicleWeightRating(GVWR)
of14,001poundsormore.TheHD-OBDsystemmonitorsthe
engineandaftertreatmentsystemstoverifytheyareoperating
withinemissionslimits.Ifanemissionsfaultislogged,the
MalfunctionIndicatorLamp(MIL)willilluminateandoneormore
faultcodeswillbeset.
TheHD-OBDsystemoperatessimilarlytopreviouspowertrain
controlsystemsbystoringfaultcodesandturningontheMIL.If
theproblemthatcausedthefaultgoesaway,thecodewillclear
andtheMILwillgooutaftercertainoperatingconditionshave
beenmet.Thismaytakeseveraltimesoperatingthevehicle.
SupplementalFederalEmissionControlSystemWarranty
TheUnitedStatesEnvironmentalProtectionAgencyadopted
newheavy-dutyGreenhouseGas(GHG)vehicleregulationson
15September2011.ThisvehiclemaybecertiedtotheGHG
regulations.Forcertiedvehicles,additionalGHGemissions
controlsystemwarrantycoverscertainvehiclecomponents.
ThisSupplementalGHGFederalEmissionControlSystem
Warrantycoverageforthesevehiclecomponentswillbe
managedaccordingtocurrentFederalEmissionControlSystem
Warrantyprocess.TheGHGemissioncontrolsystemwarranty
appliestothebelowlistedvehiclecomponentssuchthatthey
meetthefollowingtwoconditions:
1.Thevehicleand/orGHGemissioncontrolsystem
componentisdesigned,built,andequippedsoit
conformsatthetimeofsaletotheultimatepurchaser
withtherequirementsoftheGHGregulationsandsuch
componentisanemissioncontrolandappearsonthe
GHGvehicleemissioncerticationlabel,and
2.Thevehicleand/orGHGemissioncontrolsystem
componentisfreefromdefectsinmaterialsand
workmanshipthatcausethevehicletofailtoconform
totheGHGrequirementsduringtheapplicable
supplementalwarrantyperiod.
