2.Toavoiddamagingthelter,carefullygrasptheendof
thelterandpullitupandout.
3.Slideanew(orcleaned)lterfullyintotheslotby
pressingdownontheoutertwoedgesofthelter’stop
surface.
4.Closelowerbunkplatform.
Axles
FrontAxle
InspectionandLubrication
ChecktomakesurethatthefrontaxlemountingU-bolts,
attachingormountingbolts,andnutsaresecurelytightened.
Looseormisalignedfrontaxleswillaffectvehiclealignment,
fronttirewear,andhandling.
RefertotheMaintenanceIntervalsandSpecicationssection
forretorquespecications.
Observethefollowingwhencheckingthefrontaxlefordamaged,
binding,orwornparts,andadequatelubrication:
•Kingpinwearinspectionrequiresthatnoweightisonthe
tires.
•Kingpinandkingpinbushinglubricationrequiresthatthe
vehicleweightisofftiresandthefrontwheelsbeturned
fullytotheleftorrightpriortoinstallinggreasedistribution.
•Kingpinthrustbushinglubricationrequiresthatthevehicle
weightisrestingonthetires.
•Powergreasegunsmaybeused;however,a
hand-pumpedgreasegunisrecommendedforoptimal
greasedistributionwithineachcomponentjoint.
•Inspect,lubricateandadjustthewheelbearingsatregular
intervals.RefertoSECTION8—MaintenanceIntervals
andSpecicationsforthecorrectintervals,lubricants,
andtorques.
