Power Off the Library
Beforepoweringoffthelibrary,usethefollowingstepstoprepareforshut‐
down.
Note: Ifyouneedtoresetthelibraryinsteadofpoweringitoff,see
ResettingtheLibraryonpage365
1. Useyourstoragemanagementsoftwaretostopanybackupsrunningto
thelibrary.
2. PausePostScanifitisrunning(seePausethePostScanProcesson
page254).Anytapescurrentlybeingscannedarereturnedtotheir
storagelocations.
3. Pressandholdthefrontpanelpowerbuttonforapproximatelyone
second.Thepower‐offsequencetakesapproximatelytwominutes,
whichallowstheBlueScalesoftwareandcomponentstoshutdown
gracefully.
Ifthesystemisstableatpoweroff,amessagedisplaysindicating
thatthepowerbuttonwaspressed.
Ifthesystemisunstableatpoweroff(thatis,ifyoupoweroffthe
librarywhenitisinanerrorstate),thepowerofftimetakes
approximatelyoneminuteandshowsnoindicationthatitis
poweringoff.Waitforthesequencetocomplete.
Ifthelibrarydoesnotpoweroffaftertwominutes,pressandhold
thefrontpanelpowerbuttonfortensecondstoinvoketheemergency
poweroffprocess.Thisprocesspowersoffthelibraryimmediately
withoutagracefulshutdownoftheBlueScalesoftwareandlibrary
components.
Note: Ifyouintendtoleavethelibrarypowereddownforanextended
lengthoftime,disconnecttheACpowercordsfromthelibrary.
