CAPTURING TRACES
Overview SpectraLogicusestracestohelpdiagnoseproblemswiththe
library.Youonlyneedtocapturetraceswheninstructedtodosoby
SpectraLogicTechnicalSupport.Theyindicatewhattypeoftraceyouneed
tocapture.
Emailing Trace Results Ifyouplantoemailtraceresultsdirectlyfromthe
library,makesurethatyoupreviouslyconfiguredtherecipientsasmail
users(seeConfigureMailUsersonpage104).
Ifyouareconnectedtothelibraryusingawebbrowser,youcanalsocopy
andpastethetraceresultsintoatextfileandemailittoSpectraLogic
TechnicalSupportiftheyrequestit.
Saving Trace Results to USB IfyouplantosavetraceresultstoUSB,you
mustconnecttheUSBdevicetotheLCMbeforeyouselecttheTraceson
theMaintenanceToolsscreen(seeConnectaUSBDevicetotheLibraryon
page148).IfaUSBdeviceisnotconnected,theUSBoptionisnotavailable.
Youcan,however,stillsavetraceresultstothememorycardintheLCM.
Youcanalsoviewtheresultswithoutsavingthem.
User Privilege Requirements Onlyauserwithsuperuseroradministrator
privilegescancapturetraces.
1. Logintothelibraryasauserwithsuperuseroradministrator
privileges.
2. IfyouwanttosavethetracestoaUSBdevice,connecttheUSBdevice
totheLCMandallowtimeforthedevicetomount;otherwise,skipto
thenextstep.
3. ClickMENU,thenselectMaintenance > Traces. TheTracesscreen
displayswiththetraceoptionsthatwereselectedthelasttimethe
screenwasviewed.
