Installing Additional Drives
Installinganadditionaldrivecausesthelibrarytoreassignelement
addresseswhenthedriveisaddedtoapartition.Toavoiderrors,
reconfigureyourstoragemanagementsoftwareafteraddinganewdrive
(refertoyoursoftwaredocumentationforinstructions).
Servicing the Library
Intheeventthatitisnecessarytoreplaceacomponent,makesurethatyou
haveinstructionsforperformingtheprocedureandyoueither:
AreinstructedtodosobySpectraLogicTechnicalSupport,

HaveasupportcontractsuchasAssistedSelf‐Maintenance(ASM).
RENEWING THE BLUESCALE SOFTWARE SUPPORT KEY
YoumusthaveacurrentsupportagreementandcorrespondingBlueScale
SoftwareSupportkeyenteredinthelibrarybeforeyoucanupdatethe
library’sBlueScalesoftwareandthecomponentfirmware.Youareableto
downloadupdatedBlueScalepackagesfromtheTechnicalSupportportal;
however,withoutavalidBlueScaleSoftwareSupportkeyinstalledonthe
library,youarenotbeabletoapplytheupdatestothelibrary.
Notes: SpectraLogicsendsyouanemailnotificationbeforeyour
currentsupportkeyexpires.
Thelibraryalsogeneratesinformationalmessagestoletyou
knowthatthesupportkeyisabouttoexpire.
IfyourBlueScaleSoftwareSupportkeyexpires,thefollowingscreen
displayswhenyouattempttoupdatethelibrary.
