CONFIGURING AUTOSUPPORT
IfyouhaveanyquestionsaboutconfiguringAutoSupport,contactSpectra

Network and Support Contract Requirements Beforeyouconfigure
AutoSupport,SpectraLogicrecommendsconnectingthelibrarytoan
emailgateway.Youneedtodothefollowing:
Connecta10/100BaseTEthernetcabletotheEthernetconnectoronthe
LCM(seeFigure10onpage35).
Obtainthelibrary’sIPaddress,subnet,andgatewayaddress(see
ConfigureNetworkSettingsonpage100).
ObtaintheAutoSupportCustomer/ContractNumberforthelibrary
fromSpectraLogic.
User Privilege Requirements Onlyauserwithsuperuseroradministrator
privilegescanconfiguretheAutoSupportfeatures.SeeUnderstanding
UserGroupsandSecurityonpage96forinformationaboutthethreetypes
ofusergroupsandwhattypesofprivilegeseachhas.
Configure Mail Recipients
Ifnotalreadycompleted,configureoneormoremailrecipientswho
shouldreceiveAutoSupportinformation(seeConfigureMailUserson
page104).Ataminimum,configureSpectraLogicTechnicalSupport
(autosupport@spectralogic.com)asamailrecipientifyouwantto
automaticallysendAutoSupportticketrequeststoSpectraLogicTechnical
Support.Ifdesired,youcanconfigureadditionalrecipients.
Notes: Thedefaultautosupport@spectralogic.commailrecipientcan
beusedforanyASLorHHMfilesthataregeneratedbythe
library.Thisincludesthosegeneratedmanually,or
automaticallyinresponsetocriticaleventsorlogforwarding.
Donotconfiguretheautosupport@spectralogic.commail
recipienttoreceivemessagesthatresultfromconfiguration
changesorsystemmessagesgeneratedbythelibrary.
AutoSupportcanbeusedwithoutemailaccessbysavingthe
informationgeneratedbyAutoSupporttoaUSBdeviceand
thenmanuallysendingthestoredinformationtoSpectra
LogicTechnicalSupport.
