Prepare the Cartridges for Use
Usethefollowingstepstopreparetheindividualcartridgestobeloaded
intothelibrary.
1. Ifyourcartridgesareunlabeled,prepareandaffixabarcodelabelto
eachcartridge.Positioneachlabelintheindentedareaonthecartridge,
asillustratedinFigure125.SeeBarcodeLabelSpecificationsforHalf‐
InchMediaonpage505fordetailedinformationaboutbarcodelabels.
2. Dependingonwhetheryouplantowritedatatoacartridgeorrestore
datafromacartridge,makesurethewrite‐protectswitchonthe
cartridgeissetforthedesiredoperation.
Note: Cleaningcartridgesdonothaveawrite‐protectswitch.
Do not place labels on any surface of the cartridge except the area shown in
Figure 125. A label can become dislodged and damage the drive.
Before importing cartridges into the library, allow them to acclimate to the ambient
temperature and humidity for 24 hours.
When used in a cleaning partition, all cleaning cartridges must be identified with
“CLN” at the beginning of the barcode sequence on their labels. This requirement
applies to both standard and custom barcode labels.
