RESETTING THE LIBRARY
Performingsometypesoftroubleshootingoperationsorrecoveringfrom
someerrorconditionsrequireyoutoreboot(power‐cycle)thelibrary.
Power‐cyclingthelibraryresetsallofthecomponentsinthelibrary.
Note: Anydrivesthatarenotassignedtoapartitiongeneratesystem
messagesshowingthatthedrivedisappearedandthen
reappearedwheneverthelibraryispower‐cycled.
Prepare for the Reset
1. Useyourstoragemanagementsoftwaretostopanybackupsrunningto
thelibrary.
2. Ifpossible,pauseMediaAutoDiscovery,PreScan,orPostScanifanyof
theseprocessesisrunning(StoptheDiscoveryProcessonpage245and
PausethePostScanProcessonpage254).
3. DiscontinueallI/Otothelibrary.
Reset Using the Power Button
1. Poweroffthelibrary(seePowerOfftheLibraryonpage136).
2. Waitatleast10seconds.
3. Poweronthelibrary(seePowerOntheLibraryonpage135)andwait
whilethelibraryperformsitsinitializationprocess.
4. Ifacartridgeisleftinadriveaftertheresetiscomplete,seeResolving
OperationalIssuesonpage356forinformationaboutreturningthe
cartridgetoitsstoragelocation.
Do not reset the library unless you are specifically instructed to do so. Trace data
generated by the library may be lost when you reset the library or a component,
making diagnosing problems difficult.
