Override a Poor Cartridge Health Report
Undercertaincircumstancesyoumayneedtooverridethehealthofan
MLM‐enabledcartridgethatisreportedaspoor(aredhealthiconappears
nexttothecartridgebarcode).Whenthecartridgehealthispoor,agreen
arrowbuttonappears,thatcanbeusedtooverridethereportedhealth.
Duringtheoverrideprocess,thelibraryprogressivelyeliminatesany
recentharderrorsfromthetapehealthcalculation.Ifthehealthisstillred,
allharderrorsareeliminatedfromthetapehealthcalculation.Thelibrary
continuestousethisadjustedtapehealthuntilthecartridgehealthreturns
toeitherGoodorAverageaspartofnormalhealthmonitoring.
Usethefollowingstepstoresetthehealthofasinglecartridge.
1. DisplaytheMLMReportsscreenasdescribedinGenerateMLM
Reportsonpage255.
2. Locatethebarcodeofthecartridgeforwhichyouneedtoresetthe
health(seeStep7onpage259).
3. Clickthegreenarrowbuttonforthecartridge.Thelibraryadjusts
parametersusedtocalculatethetapehealthuntilthereportedhealthis
Average.
4. Attempttoresolvetheissuesthatwerecausingthemediahealthtobe
reportedaspoor.
Do not reset the cartridge health unless you believe that the reported poor health
is due to drive problems and not the cartridge or you are specifically directed to do
so by Spectra Logic Technical Support.
