TROUBLESHOOTING ENCRYPTION ISSUES

LTFS-formatted

cartridges.
LTO‐5drivesusingfirmwareversionB6W0or
laterautomaticallymovetheMLMdataonthe

loadedandthenunloadedfromthedrive.
Fromthatpointforward,theMLMdatais
maintainedinthenewlocation.
IfthecartridgeisformattedtoLTFSbefore
theMLMdataismoved,theMLMdatais
lost.
IfaproperlypreparedandLTFS‐formatted
cartridgeisloadedintoanLTO‐5drivethat
isnotusingfirmwareversionB6W1orlater,
thedrivecannotlocateorupdatetheMLM
dataonthecartridge.
Ifyouplantoreformatyour
LTO‐5datacartridgestouse
LTFS,loadandthenunload
eachcartridgeintoanLTO‐5
drivethatisusingfirmware
versionB6W1orlaterbefore
youreformatthecartridges.
ToensurefullMLM
trackingofyourLTFS‐
formattedLTO‐5data
cartridges,makesureall
LTO‐5drivesinthelibrary
areupdatedtofirmware
versionB6W1orlater.

serverduringtheBlueScale(library)portionof
theSpectraSKLMserverconfiguration.
Thedefaultportsettingis3801.SeeConfigure
theSpectraSKLMServeronpage289to
determineyourportsetting.
System message
states that “Load
attempted while
encryption is
enabled, but no
moniker or key list
was sent to the
DCM.”
Ifacartridgeisleftina
driveafterthelibraryloses
poweroryouresetor
power‐cyclethelibrary,the
driveisnotabletoreceive
encryptionmonikers.
Thiscanalsooccurifatape
isleftinadrivewhilethe
driveisresetorreseated.
Usethefollowingstepstore‐enablethe
encryptionprocess:
1. Movethecartridgeoutofthedriveandreturn
ittoitsstoragelocation(see
MoveCartridges
WithinaPartitiononpage219).
2. Resetthedrive(seeResettingaDriveon
page401).
