Identify Fibre Channel-Based Partitions
WhenmonitoringconnectionstomultiplelibrariesthroughaFibre
Channelswitch,knowingtheWWNforastoragepartitionisusefulfor
identifyingaparticularlibrary.
EachFibreChannel‐basedpartitioninthelibraryisidentifiedbytheWWN
shownonthePartitionsscreen.ThepartitionWWNisactuallytheWorld
WidePortName(WWPN)forPortAofthe FibreChanneldrivethat
providestheroboticcontrolpathforthepartition(theexportingdriv e). Asa
result,thepartitionhasadirectrelationshiptotheWWNoftheexporting
drive.Forexample,comparetheWWNforPartition1withtheWWNfor
drivefLTO‐DRV2BinFigure96.
PartitionWWNshavethefollowingcharacteristics:
WhenseenfromtheFibreChannelswitch,eachstoragepartition
definedinthelibraryappearsasanindependentlibraryconnectedto
theFibreChannelarbitratedlooporfabric.
WhenseenfromtheFibreChannelswitch,theseconddigitofa
partition’sWWNindicateswhichtapedriveportisconnectedtothe
switch.IftheseconddigitfromtheleftintheWWNis1,theconnection
isthroughPortA;a2indicatesaconnectionthroughPort
B.Onlythe
WWNforPortAisshownonthePartitionsscreen.
Becausetheydonothaveanydrivesassociatedwiththem,cleaning
partitionsdonothaveWWNs.
SAS‐basedpartitionsarealsoassignedWWNs.TheWWNisbasedon
theSCSIportidentifierforPortA.
