cartridgebeingscanned
remainsinthedrive.The
librarygeneratesamessageto
notifyyouthattheGlobal
Sparecontainsacartridgeafter
itcompletesitsinitialization
process.
CAUTION: Make sure the drive you are sparing is
not actively running a backup or restore
operation. This could cause backups to fail.
Usethefollowingstepstoreturnthecartridge
toitsstoragelocation:
1. Examinethepartitioninventoriesto
determineinwhichpartitionthecartridge
belongs(see
Viewthe CartridgeInventory
foraPartitiononpage217).
2. SubstitutetheGlobalSparetapedrive
containingthecartridgeforanotherdrive
inthesamepartition(see
UsingaGlobal
SpareDriveonpage402).
3. Movethecartridgeoutofthedriveand
returnittoitsstoragelocation(see
Move
CartridgesWithinaPartitiononpage219).
4. ReturnthedrivebacktoGlobalSpare
status(see
UndotheGlobalSpareDriveon
page405).
Element addresses
change after
installing
additional drives.
Installingadditionaldrives
intothelibrary,orremoving
drivesfromthelibrary,may
causethelibrarytoreassign
elementaddresses.
Toavoiderrorsafteraddinganewdrive,
makesurethatyoureconfiguretheelement
addressesyourstoragemanagementsoftware
usestoaccessdriveswhenyouinstallanew
drive(refertoyoursoftwaredocumentation
forinstructions).
Cartridge is left in
the robotics
following a move.
Thelibrarywasunableto
insertthecartridgeintoits
originalslotandnoempty
slotsareavailable.Thelibrary
postsasystemmessageand
halts.
