To apply probability or ratchet using 16 Levels:
1. Press the pad with the note where you would like to add probability or ratchet.
2. Press the 16 Levels button to open the 16 Levels window.
3. In the 16 Levels window, set the Type field to Probability or Ratchet.
4. The 16 pads will now represent probability that the note will play from lowest to highest, or increasing ratchet
subdivision values.
Note probability and ratchet values will also be saved and loaded as part of MPC pattern files (.mpcpattern).
Pad Perform and 16 Levels Enhancements
You can now use 16 Levels with all Pad Perform settings. Instead of producing an error message when 16 Levels is
activated on a melodic program, 16 Levels will activate as follows:
• For Pad Perform modes where a pad plays a single note (Chromatic, Notes, Custom), activating 16 Levels
will apply to the current note.
• For Pad Perform modes where there is more than one note per pad (Chords, Chromatic Chords,
Progressions), activating 16 levels will apply to the root note of the current chord.
• For melodic programs that are not keygroups, only Velocity, Probability, and Ratchet options are available for
16 Levels.
Five extra chord progressions have also been added to Pad Perform > Progressions.
Pad Perform mode also now supports user-created pad note
maps by selecting the Custom type. After this option is selected
in the Pad Perform mode window:
1. Tap the Edit Note Map button to begin editing.
2. Tap a pad or use the Pad field to select a pad.
3. Use the MIDI Note field to set the desired note.
4. When you are finished editing, tap Close, the X, or
anywhere outside the window.
You can also choose from three presets: Chromatic C1,
Chromatic C2, or Classic MPC.
